The Hunza only adhere to a certain important mantra - "you are what you eat!". It is in this seemingly trivial and familiar saying that the key to longevity lies!

So what do the Hunzas eat? Well, members of this intriguing tribe consume fruits and vegetables, as well as nuts. The region is home to apricot trees, whose fruits are so sweet that the tribe doesn't use sugar at all. In addition, the people of the local lands eat yogurts and cheeses, made by hand from goat's milk. To this they add the grains they grow and - occasionally - meat (usually chicken). They don't drink alcohol, but only water sourced from a glacier. It can be said that their eating style today has become a prescription for every disease in the world!

Hunza eat very little - usually two main meals and this despite the fact that they work physically. This is what gives them greater immunity, stamina and energy to perform! It is worth mentioning that originally the Hunza tribe - when they were a completely isolated enclave from the world - ate only sprouts, hand-baked bread, vegetables and fruits. In the past, no animals were raised for slaughter, but there were no pastures either. So, if any meat was already eaten it was only when the animal died of old age - so, completely "on a holiday." Sugar, salt or white flour used to be unknown to the people of the Hunza tribe - it was bread made from whole grains or sprouts that provided them with valuable nutrients!

Thanks to such nutrition and living fully in accordance with nature, the Hunza people still live to over 140 years old today! And this in complete physical fitness and excellent health. Of course, the ethnic tribe is also influenced by clean mountain water, fresh air or mineral-rich soil. One, simple life has also made the Hunza people boast an "age-old" population so far - no stress, cars, military, criminals, aggression, artificial spraying or pursuit of money. Human ties are very strong, and respect and kindness stand at the forefront here. A veritable idyll on the edge of the world!

According to the Hunza tribe, man is somewhat like a plant. For, like it, he must have a strong sense of belonging - otherwise he wilts and dies quite like a plant uprooted from the soil. In the same way, idleness is, according to them, a much bigger problem than work. And the best cure for sadness is cheerfulness and a smile. So if we want to live to "a hundred," we should follow the example of this Pakistani tribe!

Hunza jewelry and clothing of tribe members

The Hunza tribe wears traditional costumes, in which embroidery and sewing dominate. Thus, a lot of colorful glass appears on clothing. Women usually wear unique dresses or colorful knee-length shirts, and cover their heads with richly embroidered caps. Men, on the other hand, put on kameez sarees and caps made of hand-woven material, pattu.

It is worth mentioning that Hunza is a mountainous valley, which is located exactly in the Gilgit - Baltistan region of Pakistan. The Hunza Valley is still home to highly trained as well as skilled artisans who are engaged in, among other things, the production of ethnic jewelry. They are skilled at cutting or polishing stones, thus offering a fairly wide range of handmade ornaments such as oriental bracelets, earrings or necklaces. Typically, in the region, the people wear silver jewelry on a daily basis - that made of gold is put on during various special occasions

Decorative ornaments have been present in the tribe for many years. Why? Well, the valley lies at the confluence of three world-famous mountain ranges - the Himalayas, Hindukash and Karakoram. It is these mountains that hide in their depths an inexhaustible mass of minerals and... gems! By the way, gemstones and gems mined just from these areas end up on the jewelry market all over... the world! Hunza is home to the Gem Grinding and Polishing Center (GCPC), where local people are constantly being trained in the art of cutting and polishing precious gems and semi-precious stones, with the aim of transforming it later into ethnic ornaments.

Hunza tribe's philosophy of life

The Hunza tribe so far believes that a person is a "mirror image of his thoughts." In order to relax and unwind, they have even developed special techniques that make it easier for them to enjoy life and work - with absolutely no signs of fatigue! This is because they believe that a person who is unable to relax loses great reserves of energy - and that the body and mind in a state of constant tension deteriorate very quickly. So, relaxation is also an excellent way to achieve longevity!

The tribe's energy is focused on constructive activities, not destructive ones. Therefore, there are no bandits or murderers in the tribe. A positive attitude to life and an eternal smile on the face is something that distinguishes the tribe to this day. The Hunzas don't think about the past or worry about the future - they live "here and now." And perhaps it is this skill that we should take from them in order to survive on Earth as long as possible in full mental and physical strength?
