Hand-Embroidered Tribal Textile Applique

Hand-embroidered textile applique in a V-shaped form, created from sturdy fabric and decorated with vivid geometric and floral motifs in shades of green, pink, purple, orange and white. The composition is completed with a wide band of black wool braid finished with long fringes and interwoven red glass beads, adding a distinctive tribal rhythm.

Originally designed as a sewn-on element of traditional dress, this type of panel was attached to the front of a dress, tunic or coat. Beyond its decorative role, it carried symbolic meaning – expressing status, identity and belonging within the community. Each piece is individually embroidered, resulting in subtle variations in stitch and detail.

The lower section features dense, twisted black wool fringes that give the piece weight and dynamic movement. Small red beads are integrated into the structure, creating a delicate contrast between matte fibers and subtle shine.

Today, the panel can be used as a couture applique for bespoke garments, stage costumes, or ethnic-inspired fashion projects. It also works as a striking decorative textile element in interior design – sewn onto wall hangings, cushions or art pieces. A substantial fragment of traditional craftsmanship that brings authenticity and depth to any creative project.
