Turquoise Howlite Cylinders 5 mm
Turquoise Howlite Cylinders 5 mm
The howlite has been dyed in varied shades of green and turquoise, ranging from cool sea tones to lighter creamy-green transitions. The color is not perfectly uniform, which gives the strand a more natural and less artificial appearance. Subtle traces of the stone’s organic structure remain visible within many of the beads.
The shape resembles small, elongated cylinders with slightly tapered ends. Each bead is irregular and gently asymmetrical, reflecting a hand-cut aesthetic rather than industrial precision. The surface is matte to softly satin, allowing the color to appear deep and grounded instead of glossy.
As a porous mineral, howlite absorbs dye into its structure rather than forming a superficial coating. In this version, the material visually echoes raw turquoise in a finer scale while remaining lightweight and easy to incorporate into jewelry designs.
This strand works well in long tribal necklaces, multi-layered compositions, or as a textured element combined with brass and oxidized silver. It adds rhythm and tactile depth to a design rather than presenting a flat, uniform surface.
