Afghan Tassel Avalanche Earrings
Afghan Tassel Avalanche Earrings
Massive silver earrings from Afghanistan are an example of the striking jewelry worn by women of nomadic communities. Their design is based on a large hoop from which hangs an elaborate arrangement of tassels made of numerous silver chains.
The central element of the earrings is formed by hemispherical domes resembling small bells. From the lower part, a dense cascade of chains descends, culminating in small leaf- and teardrop-shaped pendants. When worn, these elements move freely, creating a dynamic effect characteristic of Afghan tribal jewelry.
Each piece is handcrafted from thin silver wires and small metal elements. Traditional wire braiding is visible in many places, strengthening the earrings' construction and emphasizing their artisanal character.
The natural patina of the silver and subtle traces of years of use give the earrings an authentic, vintage look. Thanks to their massive form and rich detail, they are an extremely expressive example of traditional Afghan craftsmanship.
