Nomad Spiked Earrings

Silver earrings in the form of large hoops are among the most recognizable jewelry worn by women in Afghanistan and the Pakistani-Afghan border regions. The hoop shape was practical, durable, and easy to make by local artisans working for nomadic communities.

The lower part of the hoop is decorated with a series of small, conical elements resembling spikes. This decoration gives the earrings a distinctive, almost warrior-like character, often found in the jewelry of the steppe peoples and mountain communities of Central Asia.

The entire piece is made of hand-formed silver wire. The visible spiral braid at the closure of the hoop is a typical design detail found in traditional Afghan jewelry – it strengthens the earring and simultaneously provides a subtle decorative element.

The natural patina of the silver and minor signs of wear attest to the authentic, antique character of this piece. The earrings have retained the raw style of old craftsmanship, which today attracts collectors of ethnic jewelry and lovers of nomadic aesthetics.
