Afghan Two-Finger Ring – Lapis Mandala

This Afghan two-finger ring, with its impressive diameter, is an example of jewelry that doesn't function as an accessory—it's the focal point of the outfit. The wide, round disc is mounted on a double rail and topped with a deep blue stone with a matte finish. The central lapis creates a striking contrast against the blackened background and the small, rhythmically placed appliqués in shades of blue and gold.

The composition of the ornaments forms a radiant mandala—geometric and balanced, yet retaining the raw character of craftsmanship. Metal points and inlays create a structure reminiscent of a sun or a ceremonial disc. This form is deeply rooted in Afghan aesthetics, where jewelry was meant to express status, strength, and belonging.

The two-finger design ensures stability despite the large surface area. The hand-crafted metalwork and traces of traditional soldering techniques are visible from the underside. The ring also has minor damage – a tiny hole at the base of the dial, in an area invisible when worn. The damage occurred during customs inspection and does not affect the structural stability or comfort of use.

This piece is for those who understand that authentic craftsmanship is not sterile or perfect. Traces of the journey, the hand of the craftsman, and the history of transportation are part of its true identity. This is collectible, stage-worthy, and expressive jewelry – for those who choose a form with character over smooth mass production.
