Pashtun Septum – Large Layered Forms

Large Pashtun septum ornaments, traditional nose jewelry from Afghanistan and the Pakistan border regions. These pieces represent the most substantial category of tribal nose adornment, measuring approximately 2–3 cm in width and built with a clearly layered, thick structure.

The construction consists of multiple levels: a raised central element, surrounding domed forms, and an outer decorative ring. The blue decorative elements are not natural stones; they are colored beads made of early composite or synthetic material, commonly used in tribal jewelry for their vivid color and durability.

Such septum pieces were never intended to be discreet. They functioned as highly visible, status-oriented adornments, emphasizing presence and cultural identity. Their weight and three-dimensional form distinguish them from smaller, everyday nose rings.

Natural patina, wear marks, minor abrasions, and hand-soldered joins are present throughout. Each example differs slightly in proportions and detailing. The offer applies to the specific pieces shown in the photographs, with the option to select a numbered item or receive a randomly chosen example.
