Roman Glass – Venetian Reclaimed Glass Beads

These beads are made from historical glass commonly known today as Roman glass — material reclaimed from ancient glass objects that have aged naturally over centuries. Their matte, slightly weathered surface, irregular edges, and varied colors are the result of long-term exposure to soil, moisture, and minerals. This appearance cannot be convincingly reproduced using modern manufacturing techniques.

Such glass was later reused and re-melted in regions including Venice and parts of the Middle East. Today it appears under various trade names such as Roman glass, Venetian glass, or Gabri glass, but the core value remains the same: old, repeatedly transformed glass carrying visible traces of time and history.

The beads are shaped as irregular, thin discs strung on strands approximately 40 cm long. Each strand is unique — variations in green, blue, grey, and sandy tones are natural and intentional. This is not uniform, mass-produced jewelry material, but authentic reclaimed glass with individual character.

These strands are ideal for ethnic, historical, or raw jewelry designs — necklaces, collars, bracelets, or projects inspired by antiquity. A material for creators who value authenticity and surface history over polished perfection.
