Kuchi Colored Glass Cuff
Kuchi Colored Glass Cuff
A wide cuff bracelet from Afghanistan, associated with Kuchi tribal jewelry. Made of brass, it features a massive, open construction typical of nomadic jewelry, designed for intensive use and visibility on the wrist.
The surface is decorated with rhythmic ornamentation and metal-set colored glass inserts in shades of red, green, and blue. This color combination is one of the most characteristic elements of Kuchi jewelry and was used for both aesthetic and symbolic reasons.
The condition is consistent with that of a vintage item: visible patina, abrasions, and minor irregularities resulting from age and use. One metal cuff end is also missing (as shown in the photo), which should be considered a technical defect typical of authentic, old tribal jewelry.
