Crescent-shaped earrings are a characteristic form found in jewelry from the Kashmir region and northern Afghanistan. They are crafted from silver and constructed around a thin hoop fastened with a traditional clasp. The lower part of the earring forms a decorative arch with openwork openings, which serves as a base for the movable elements suspended below.

The focal point of the composition is red glass set in a small rosette setting. The intense red color is one of the most common colors in tribal jewelry from Afghanistan and neighboring regions. Stones or glass of this color symbolized energy, protection, and prosperity, and were therefore often placed in the most visible part of the piece.
