Hazard Niello Zinc Necklace
Hazard Niello Zinc Necklace
The form is based on repetitive, symmetrical elements in the shapes of flowers and stars, which lead the eye to the central heart motif. The composition is balanced and clear – without excess, without chaos. Each segment connects to another small connector, allowing the whole to flexibly fit around the neck.
The metal surface is decorated using the niello technique, where engraved lines are filled with a dark mass contrasting with a lighter background. This technique highlights the ornament, brings out the details, and gives the whole a distinct character. The floral and geometric motifs are not printed – they are permanently embedded in the metal structure.
The turquoise cabochons provide a strong, yet focused, accent color. Their cool hue contrasts with the muted, dark niello line. The effect is pure and graphic – this is jewelry that doesn't attempt to be heavy or monumental, but rather plays with detail and rhythm.
This zinc piece is lightweight, comfortable to wear, and inspired by the traditional crafts of the regions inhabited by the Hazara. This piece will work well as a distinct, ethnic accent to simple styling – especially where ornamentation and symbolism are important.
