Wool Embroidered Appliqué with Fringes – Floral Ornament Panel
Wool Embroidered Appliqué with Fringes – Floral Ornament Panel
This substantial tailoring appliqué is shaped as a corner or collar panel, entirely handcrafted from wool and cotton-based fabric. The surface is densely embroidered with floral motifs in contrasting tones of green, pink, cream, and deep red. A wide section of thick wool fringes creates a strong visual and textural finish.
Each flower motif has been individually stitched by hand, with visible thread texture and subtle variations in stitch tension that confirm its artisanal origin. The base fabric is relatively heavy, providing structural stability. Traditional reinforcement stitching and hand-finished edges are clearly present.
Such elements were traditionally used as decorative sections of garments – typically around the neckline, shoulders, or front panels of tunics and coats. Beyond decoration, floral symbolism in Central and South Asian textile traditions often represented fertility, protection, and social status.
With one arm measuring approximately 80 cm in length, this appliqué is suitable for traditional costume reconstruction, stage costumes, ethnic fashion design, or as a statement component in contemporary alternative garments. It may be sewn onto clothing, transformed into a decorative textile panel, or incorporated into interior design projects.
