Kuchi tribal jewelry is among the most recognizable forms of jewelry from Central Asia. Nomadic Afghan communities created pieces from locally available metals – most often silver of varying fineness – and intensely colored glass. The colors had symbolic meaning, but above all, they were a decorative element visible from a distance.

The central element of this bracelet is a round medallion with an embossed floral ornament. At its center is red glass surrounded by a ring of red and green stones. Such compositions were very characteristic of Kuchi jewelry – strong color contrast and geometric symmetry formed the basis of the decoration.

On either side of the medallion are wide glass elements and clusters of thick silver chains terminating in small pendants. Such movable elements were a popular detail in tribal jewelry. They moved gently as they moved, giving the piece a dynamic character.

The bracelet retains the silver's natural patina and traces of the craftsmen's handiwork. Minor irregularities in texture and ornamentation are typical of authentic jewelry made in tribal workshops. This makes each piece unique and a fragment of the traditional jewelry culture of the Afghan region.
