Antique Afghan Beads
Antique Afghan Beads
Antique Afghan beads feature a large, flat shape with a wider centre and tapered ends. They were made from formed brass sheet, creating a broad opening suitable for stringing onto leather cord, ribbon or several strands.
The surface is decorated with embossed floral and geometric motifs, including multi-petalled flowers and simple linear patterns. The designs vary between individual pieces, giving each bead its own distinctive handmade character.
Natural patina, local discolouration, abrasions and minor irregularities are characteristic of old, previously used jewellery components. Individual beads may differ in shape, colour, pattern and condition. The product is sold as a mix of designs.
Their large and expressive form makes these beads suitable for necklaces, bracelets, costume ornaments and original ethnic jewellery projects. They pair beautifully with natural stones, aged metal, leather and components inspired by the traditional craftsmanship of Afghanistan and Central Asia.
