Double Afghan Bead
Double Afghan Bead
Double Afghan Bead is a large sculptural component originating from traditional tribal jewellery. It consists of two spherical sections joined by a broad tube through which a cord, leather strap or necklace structure can be passed.
A decorative band of twisted wire and rhythmic wave ornament encircles the larger sphere. Similar detailing appears around the smaller section and connecting tube, creating a consistent and richly worked composition.
Several loops positioned around the body were intended for attaching additional pendants, chains, bells or other moving ornaments. The bead can become the centrepiece of an elaborate necklace or serve as a base for reconstructing antique Afghan jewellery.
The surface retains natural patina, discolouration, abrasions and signs of previous use. Visible irregularities and worn areas reflect its age and handmade construction. The bead is offered as a separate component without additional hanging ornaments.
