Afghan Kuchi Sphere

Afghan Kuchi Sphere is an exceptionally large, handmade brass pendant with a distinctive rounded form. Its substantial body, decorative central band and large suspension loop give it the appearance of a bold tribal ornament.

The lower section is adorned with colourful glass pieces held in raised, serrated settings. Red, green and blue accents contrast beautifully with the aged metal surface, creating the expressive appearance associated with traditional Afghan Kuchi jewellery.

A wide ornamental band encircles the body, decorated with twisted wire and a rhythmic pattern made using traditional metalworking techniques. Natural patina, abrasions, discolouration and signs of previous use emphasise the pendant’s antique character.

The sphere can become the centrepiece of a substantial necklace, an ornament for a tribal costume or a distinctive collector’s object. Its impressive size and sculptural shape make it particularly suitable as a single dominant feature in ethnic jewellery.
