Turkmen Ring with Bells

Turkmen jewelry is often distinguished by its dynamic form and the presence of moving elements. Many traditional pieces feature small bells or spherical pendants that produce a delicate sound when moved. Such features were both decorative and symbolic.

The ring presented here is made of a zinc alloy and features a distinctive, wide band that fits the finger. In the center is an oval red cabochon stone, which provides the main color accent for the entire composition.

Four spherical bells suspended on small links are placed on the sides of the ring. Their shape is reminiscent of traditional Turkmen jewelry worn by women, in which moving elements were a significant aesthetic and cultural element.

The metal's natural patina and minor signs of wear emphasize the item's age. Such rings are among the rarer forms of jewelry from Turkmenistan and are an interesting example of the region's traditional crafts.
