Antique Balochi Bead
Antique Balochi Bead
Antique Balochi bead is a large spherical component originating from the traditional jewellery of Balochistan. Broad openings at both ends allow it to be strung onto a substantial cord, leather strap or the structure of an elaborate necklace.
The body is decorated with embossed floral and spiral motifs together with a pronounced ornamental band around its centre. The division of the surface into decorative panels gives the bead a substantial, almost architectural appearance.
Two side loops support short chains finished with articulated ornaments shaped like stylised flower buds. These elements move freely with the jewellery, adding dimension and a subtle metallic sound.
The surface retains an intense natural patina, green traces of oxidation, abrasions and minor irregularities resulting from age and handmade construction. The bead can become the centrepiece of a large necklace or a distinctive collector’s object associated with Balochi culture.
