Volcanic Obsidian Ring

This silver ring is crafted from natural obsidian—a stone that isn't actually a typical mineral, but a natural glass formed by the rapid cooling of lava. This gives its surface a unique, deep shine reminiscent of a polished mirror. The oval cabochon is distinctly convex and massive, giving the ring a distinctive character.

The stone is set in a handmade setting of 925 silver. A delicate rim of tiny silver beads surrounds the obsidian like an ornament, giving the piece a more ethnic and artisanal look. The band is adjustable, allowing the ring to comfortably fit various finger sizes without compromising stability.

Obsidian has been valued by various cultures for thousands of years. In ancient Rome, it was used to make ornaments and seals, while Mesoamerican civilizations used it to craft tools and ceremonial objects. Its natural smoothness and intense black color have often made it a stone of reflection and introspection.

In this form, obsidian retains its most distinctive characteristic – a deep, uniform color that, in the right light, appears almost liquid. Combined with a silver setting, it creates a distinctive yet timeless piece of jewelry, suitable for both modern styles and more classic ensembles.
